Pew Latin American Fellows Program in the Biomedical Sciences

  .

Pew Fellows will be selected on the basis of their promise as outstanding investigators and their commitment to advance biomedical research in their developing careers as part of the Latin American scientific research community. Applicants will be chosen based also on the merit of their research proposal, their record of training and how well their interests align with the proposed sponsors and sponsor laboratories in the United States.

The application for 2014 will open on July 15, 2013. Submitted applications will be reviewed first by the regional nominating committee for the country of the applicant. Each committee will select and invite finalists in their region for an in-person or video interview with the members. Each committee will nominate six final candidates from their region to Pew for further consideration. Those applications, as well as all others from other countries that will be initially reviewed by the program office, will next be thoroughly reviewed by the National Advisory Committee in the United States. They will make the final selection of 2014 Pew fellows by April 2014.

The next application cycle officially opens July 15, 2013. To apply on or after July 15th, potential candidates must send an e-mail to Alli Rains, program assistant, at arains@pewtrusts.org to request a user name and password to access the online application located at http://apply.pewlatinfellows.org. The secure online application contains detailed instructions and an application guide. Applications must be submitted electronically by 12 p.m. EST on October 1, 2013. Information and assistance is also available from the regional committee members.

Potential applicants who do not already have a postdoctoral position and advisor may request assistance from the program office or the regional committees prior to September 1, 2013. The program office will assist with the identification of possible laboratories with matching research interests. For assistance, e-mail Anita Pepper at apepper@pewtrusts.org. This assistance guarantees neither a position in that laboratory nor a Pew fellowship.
